Know the Signs

When to Seek Emergency Care

If your pet is showing any of the following signs, seek emergency veterinary care immediately. When in doubt, it's always better to err on the side of caution.

Difficulty breathing or choking
Severe bleeding that won't stop
Inability to urinate or defecate
Suspected broken bones
Seizures or collapse
Ingestion of toxic substances (chocolate, xylitol, antifreeze, etc.)
Severe vomiting or diarrhea (especially with blood)
Eye injuries or sudden blindness
Extreme lethargy or unresponsiveness
Bloated or distended abdomen
Heat stroke (excessive panting, drooling, weakness)
Trauma from being hit by a car or a fall
